Day-to-day relationship with God.
Is it even possible?
Well, the other day, I was surfing the web when I saw this interesting question…
I couldn’t resist the desire to reply the question. It’s really simple.
Psalms 94:9 says,
He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
By inference, we can say that He who created humans to have emotions, shall He not have emotions too?
Of course, He has emotions!
God is a Person. He has feelings. He wants to be acknowledged.
If you were a parent, how would you feel if your 6-year old child walked up to you and kept on asking you every single minute about the best way he/she can establish a better relationship with you?
For one, I would be a bit worried that my child is asking me for a formula for relationship.
That’s the point!
There is no formula for relationship.
If you want any relationship to grow, you cannot afford to limit them to mere lists of dos and don’ts.
If you want to develop any relationship, all you need to do is to commit time into it. Be interested in the person. Strive to understand the person better.
And the same works with building a day-to-day relationship with God.
Sometimes, we try to compartmentalize our lives. In fact, the only time a lot of us give any thoughts about God is early in the morning, late at night and Sundays. This should not be the case.
If I were to be in a marriage relationship, I surely would not want my wife to interact with me only in the mornings/evenings and Sundays. I would love her to walk up to me and tease me, play with me, ask me questions, gist with me, send a text or call me if I’m at work, provide companionship to me….
God desires the same.
You might be engaged in your day-to-day activities and you can just whisper a heart-felt “Thank You, Jesus”. I can assure you that the quality of your relationship with God would be quadrupled by the very action of acknowledging the presence of God and treating Him as a Person in everything you do, everyday!
God bless you.
